BNY Mellon Tees up to support NHS Foundation Ladies Day Golf Tournament

The 2nd annual Ladies Day Golf Tournament will be held Thursday, September 23, 2010 at Heritage Shores Club in Bridgeville. Proceeds from the event will benefit women’s health services at Nanticoke Memorial Hospital.
Delaware Emergency Medical Diabetes Fund

Those who are not eligible for the program are those who are not diabetic, cannot prove that a diabetes related medical emergency exists, have other insurance or have full Medical Assistance benefits that provide coverage for the services, medications or supplies requested.
Delaware State Service Centers

The Division of State Service Centers administers a statewide network of safe, secure, well-maintained and efficiently operated service centers. These centers, 14 in total, serve as multi-service facilities in which various public and private agencies are collocated, with the goal of promoting access to Delaware's health and human service system through Division staff specializing in community resources and providing client support services that promote increased accessibility, enhanced service integration and efficient service monitoring. Annually, more than 600,000 visits are made to State Service Centers throughout Delaware.
Diabetes Self-Management Program
Starting September 15, 2010
Plan to attend this FREE 6-Week class “A program designed for people living with type 2 diabetes” at Greenwood CHEER. Participants will make weekly action plans, share experiences, and help each other solve problems they encounter in creating and carrying out their diabetes self-management program.
Fall & Winter Programs at Western Sussex Boys & Girls Club

Learn what the Western Sussex Boys & Girls Club has to offer this fall and winter like the JES Swim Lessons, Winter Swim Teams and New Pool Memberships are now available. Other programs include Aqua Aerobics, Aqua Jogging, Ellis and Associates Lifeguard Certifications, JES Swim Lesson Instructor Certifications, CPR, Canoe Basics and Friday Night Family Nights which are always FREE.
Funding Available for Youth Programs Combating Childhood Obesity
Deadline: September 15, 2010
The Next Generation (TNG) of the Delaware Community Foundation is pleased to announce that for the next two years, the organization will provide grants to out-of-school programs that address childhood obesity, including but are not limited to, physical fitness, nutrition and education. The program must incorporate mentoring by, but not limited to, family members, role models or peers. TNG will entertain grants up to $10,000 for the 2011 awards. Requests for funding must be submitted by September 15, 2010.

Nanticoke Health Services plans annual Golf Tournaments

Nanticoke Health Services will be hosting the twenty-fourth annual golf tournament on Thursday, September 23 and Friday, September 24, 2010 at Heritage Shores Club in Bridgeville, Delaware. Thursday’s tournament will be Ladies Day, and Friday’s tournament will be the traditional tournament open to men and women.
Promoting Healthy Lifestyle Awardees sought for October 2010

The Sussex Child Health Promotion Coalition wants to recognize Those individuals, organizations or businesses who go above and beyond to promote A healthy lifestyle for the families of Sussex County. The winners do not need to be a coalition member But must serve the Sussex Region in their efforts. This award is given twice yearly to 3-4 recipients Who have promoted healthy lifestyle or provided programming to engage the community in Healthy Lifestyles. The winners will be recognized at our October 28, 2010 meeting.

SHELTERS AND SERVICES FOR THE HOMELESS RECEIVE FINANCIAL BOOST

Six Delaware emergency and transitional shelters for the homeless received a financial boost from the Delaware State Housing Authority (DSHA) to continue to bring needed services to the homeless in lower Delaware. A total of $100,348 in federal funds was awarded to homeless providers through a competitive application process in which DSHA has participated for twenty-three consecutive years.

Western Sussex Boys & Girls Club Indoor Soccer League
2010-2011 Season
The Boys and Girls Club of Western Sussex is forming an indoor soccer league for the winter
season of 2010-2011. This is a co-ed league ages 3 through 18. Volunteers are needed to help coach, referee and keep score. Practices will start the week of November 8, 2010. For more information call Alyson Rowe at 628-3789.
